Sometimes we have to forget to move forward. Not avoid. Just forgive. Be willing to forget in order to learn and grow new ways. It’s one of the hardest things to do, I feel. When we’ve lost in love, when we’ve been hurt, when we make mistakes, when we’ve lived in an unhealthy pattern.
Forgetting is essential to moving forward and growing into a new way of being.
Rewiring our brains in order to pick up the new way of thinking and growing takes time. When healing, patience, time and not fearing what others may say or think have been tools I’ve needed to get to the other side of some heavy emotional losses.
By forgetting, I don’t mean erasing or pretending something never happened. I mean releasing it. Letting go of it and forgetting to carry whatever it was that was holding you back or caused you so much pain. Letting a flower you thought was once beautiful and something you should hold onto die and recognize the purpose it served you and then move forward to let the new blossom arrive and thrive. Or something like that.
