This piece is dear to my heart as all of these Inner Beauty Captures are! This was created for a woman who is a pure romantic and to be honest an inspiring role model. She has been inspiring me since the first time I met her at The Body Shop here in Saskatoon! I have never known a woman quite like her and her ability to tell a story of days gone by, to dig into life and make traditions for her family and friends to cherish.
It would seem Maureen and I would meet and stay connected indirectly and then have our paths converge again! I remember Maureen's passion right from the get go. Everything she did she did it with a zest and a desire to see everyone succeed! To inspire others to love life is her specialty in my opinion! I have to thank Maureen for giving so much of her time and self to others and her community. Dedicating herself to helping and caring for others and being the bright, glowing, inviting light that she is.
Maureen is a fabulous author and writer so I'm going to take a little bit from the words she shared to help convey what I see in her and why this piece evolved the way it did.
I want to finish the book I am writing but my time is rarely my own. I have realized that most caring people have little time to themselves. In a recent tour of the V and A Museum in London, I went through a display on luxury and the biggest luxury of our time, according to the curator is time and space. Everyone loves the luxury of a quiet spot to be alone. My easy chair, a book, and a cup of tea, includes time and space.
I made Gord (Maureens childhood sweetheart and husband) a birthday party on a huge rock, when we didn’t yet have a house on our land. We used the best crystal and tablecloths. It was fabulous!
I also love tradition. If something is fun, and we do it twice, it must be repeated for as long as it works. I find most of my traditions go for a decade or longer. I am known for starting traditions.
I hope you can tell but I saw the beauty of love, a drive to take every drop of life and make it her place to be regardless of whether it was caring for others or her own personal work. She is a brilliant light and creative mind that never ceases to amaze me. You can find more of Maureen's writing here!
Her fabulous books chronicling her amazing husbands childhood days and his little red wagon.
As always there was a line up of fabulous music for me to work with in creating this piece chosen by Maureen! Some of this music was new to me. Some of them like old friends holding my heart as I painted. They included such artists as Marston Smith, Jim Brickman, Diana Krall, one of my favorites Joni Mitchell, and Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald in Porgy and Bess!
